Yo, ho! Let’s Go!
Now that you have gathered all of your supplies let’s get started! Grab your black paper cup and paint a band around the top edge with metallic gold craft paint. Once you are able turn over the cup and basecoat it with black craft paint using a paintbrush.

While we wait on the paint to dry get out your cardboard box and flatten it. Once it is flat cut it apart at the seams with scissors. Download the Pirate Hook Pattern Here. Once you have it downloaded print and cut it out. Trace the hook pattern onto cardboard with a pencil. Cut out the Pirate Hook shape from the cardboard box with scissors.

Cut a slit in the bottom of the cup as wide as the base of the cardboard hook using scissors. Tear a section of aluminum foil from the package and cut it into one-inch-wide strips with scissors. Pro Tip: This is a great way to sharpen scissors!

Starting one inch up from the bottom of the hook, tape strips of aluminum foil and then wrap around the hook until the entire cardboard shape is covered. Insert the plain cardboard end of the hook through the slit in the bottom of the cup. Bend inside the cup and secure it with additional cellophane tape.

For the final steps, we will want to decorate the gold stripe at the base of the Pirate Hook with self-adhesive black rhinestones. You can also add some natural jute twine to the top edge of the Pirate Hook to finish.

Whether you are planning for the perfect fun party craft for a Pirate-themed birthday or an afternoon spent getting creative with the kiddos these pirate hooks are your next fun activity! Let your imagination run wild. The possibilities are endless!
